The region is equally famous for its local agricultural products, known collectively as the “5 A’s of Ilam”: Aloo (Potato), Olud/Olan (Milk & Dairy/Chhurpi), Amliso (Broom Grass), Akbare Khursani (Habanero Chili), and Alaichi (Large Cardamom).

Major Highlights and Visitor Activities

Tea Garden Walks & Photography

Stroll along stone pathways threading through the tea gardens. Visitors can rent traditional ethnic hill dresses (Limbu, Rai, or Gurung attire) for souvenir photo sessions amidst the tea bushes.

Horseback Riding & Scenic Spots

Guided horseback riding is one of the most popular family activities in Kanyam, taking riders to elevated ridge viewpoints offering panoramas of the Terai plains and distant Himalayan peaks.

Kanyam Skywalk Glass Bridge

A modern adventure highlight in Eastern Nepal, this glass-bottom skywalk bridge projects out over the tea garden slopes, providing an aerial view of the surrounding hills.

Picnic Parks & Local Cuisine

Equipped with designated picnic spots, Kanyam hosts thousands of day-trippers. Stop by roadside stalls to sample fresh Chhurpi (hard cheese), lollipop sweets, local organic tea, and Akbare pickle.
