To get to Ligligkot from Kathmandu, visitors can take a bus or jeep from the bus station in Kathmandu. The journey takes about 6-7 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. From Gorkha bazaar, visitors can then take a local jeep or hike to Ligligkot, which takes about 4-5 hours.

The trek to Ligligkot is moderately difficult, with steep uphill climbs and rocky terrain. However, the views along the way are worth the effort, with the surrounding hills covered in lush green forests and the mountains towering in the distance.

Upon reaching Ligligkot, visitors are treated to a breathtaking view of the Manaslu Himal range, which includes several peaks over 8,000 meters tall. The hilltop also offers views of the Marsyangdi River valley, with the town of Gorkha visible in the distance.

Ligligkot is a historically important place related closely to the unification campaign of King Prithvi Narayan Shah. It played a crucial role during the Gorkha-Nuwakot war, which is considered one of the most significant events in the unification of Nepal.

According to historical accounts, King Prithvi Narayan Shah and his army used Ligligkot as a strategic location during the war. The hilltop provided a panoramic view of the surrounding hills and valleys, allowing King Prithvi Narayan Shah to keep an eye on the enemy’s movements.

It is said that King Prithvi Narayan Shah spent several days at Ligligkot, studying the terrain and formulating his war strategy. The hilltop was also used as a temporary base camp for his troops, who rested and replenished their supplies before continuing the campaign.

Today, Ligligkot is a popular destination for tourists and trekkers, who can enjoy the stunning views of the Himalayan range and learn about its historical significance. The hilltop offers a peaceful and serene atmosphere, providing a glimpse into the past and the struggles of King Prithvi Narayan Shah and his army during the unification of Nepal.
