Listing Description

In Nepal’s Province No. 5, the Gulmi District is a well-liked vacation spot renowned for its coffee and orange growing, abundant natural resources, and rich cultural legacy. The district, which has Tamghas as its administrative center, has a total area of 1,149 km2 and a population of 268,597 as of 2016.

Geographically, Gulmi is located in the middle of Nepal’s hills, encircled by the stunning Himalayan mountain ranges. Furthermore abundant in natural resources like cobalt, the area draws a lot of tourists. The area is particularly well-known for its stunning waterfalls, which are a favorite destination for those who enjoy the outdoors.

The Bichitra Cave near Dhurkot, a distinctive natural beauty that attracts tourists from all over the world, is the main draw in Gulmi. Resunga Hill, with its abundant biodiversity and historic significance, as well as the religious and historical sites Gyawa Kshetra, Charpala, Musikot, Isma, Wami Taksar, and Purtighat, are further noteworthy landmarks. In the market district of Ruru, often called Ridi, there are numerous temples. Also, the area is well-known for its cultural celebrations, particularly the Maghe Sankranti festival.

The primary agricultural industries in Gulmi are coffee and orange growing, which contribute significantly to the local economy. Orange production and export to India are famous in the rural Dhurkot municipalities of Nayagaun and Pipaldhara. Several political figures that are active in Nepali politics were also born in the district.

Tamghas, a small community at the base of the hills Resunga and Arjun, is home to the district government offices. The district currently consists of two municipalities, Resunga and Musikot, as well as eleven rural municipalities.

Domestic tourists who want to explore the region’s natural and cultural history make up the majority of the visitors to Gulmi. The bulk of tourists want to experience the region’s natural beauty and cultural celebrations. Ultimately, Gulmi provides visitors interested in learning about Nepal’s natural and cultural heritage with a distinctive and enriching experience.
