Listing Description

Highland villages can be found in Nepal’s Helambu area, which is 80 kilometers from Kathmandu. It is the homeland of the Hyolmo people, from whom the word Helambu is from. The area is well-known for its delicious apples, beautiful Buddhist monasteries, and as a destination for Buddhist pilgrims. Helambu is a well-liked trekking destination, especially with outfitters that provide guided walks.

The Helambu Trek is a round path that takes five to eight days to complete. At the end of the trek, the first day’s segment is repeated. It is startling how abruptly the civilizations of the lower and upper lying regions diverge. Starting in Kathmandu, the walk passes via the towns of Chisopani, Hyolmo, Kutumsang, Magin Goth, Tharepati, Malemchigaun, Nakote, and Hyolmo, Tarke Gyang before coming to an end in Melamchi, from where you may board a bus back to Kathmandu. The opposite of this trek is another version. The trek’s highest point is at 3650 meters.

Because of its close proximity to Kathmandu and relatively low elevation, the Helambu region is frequently referred to as an easy trek. Nonetheless, a lot of tourists that come here on hikes find it to be harder than they expected, thus hikers should be in decent physical shape. The area offers stunning mountain scenery as well as an opportunity to learn about the Sherpa culture and traditions, who make up the majority of the local population. Both lodges and village guest homes offer lodging.

Helambu is also well-known as a Buddhist pilgrimage location and for its beautiful Buddhist monasteries. Visitors come to the area to experience Sherpa culture and traditions and to enjoy the breathtaking mountain environment. For many tourists, the luscious apples grown in the area are the main draw.

According to demographic data, Sherpas make up the majority of the local population. Apples, potatoes, and maize are the main crops farmed in Helambu, and agriculture is the primary activity of the local population. The area is renowned for its handicrafts as well, especially its wooden bowls and other home goods.

Nepal Tourism Hub highly recommends the Helambu region of Nepal which offers wonderful trekking opportunities as well as an opportunity to learn about the Sherpa culture and traditions. It is also well renowned as a Buddhist pilgrimage center and for its artistic Buddhist monasteries. Tourists who wish to see the breathtaking mountain scenery and taste the region’s sweet apples frequently travel to the area. Nonetheless, because the climb can be physically difficult, hikers should be in decent physical shape.
