Listing Description

An artificial swimming pool called Bharat Lake, often referred to as Bharat Taal, is situated in Nepal’s Sarlahi district. Both locals and visitors find it to be a popular spot, particularly during the COVID-19 lockdown. Visitors who have taken pictures of the lake have posted them on social media platforms, where they have garnered popularity.

There are two ways to get to Bharat Lake from the East-West Mahendra Highway. One kilometre east of Bagmati Bridge is a subway that leads to the lake if you are approaching from the east. At Bagmati Bridge, head south for about 3 kilometers while following the Bagmati riverbed if you are approaching from the west.

It is 35 feet deep and extends over more than 50 bighas, or 35 hectares. Since the introduction of motorboat and jet boat excursions in 2021, it has become a popular tourist destination. Bharat Kumar Thapa, a mayor of the Bagmati Municipality, was honored with a lake name.

Bharat Lake is a lovely location for a picnic, fishing, or just spending a quiet day by the water because it is surrounded by thick vegetation. Guests can rent boats to explore the lake or just unwind and enjoy the scenery.

At Bharat Lake, there are a lot of attractions. Visitors can explore historic temples and structures like the Barah Temple, Ghurmi Bazaar, and Lalbandi Fort in the neighboring town of Sarlahi. Visitors can sample regional fruits and vegetables in nearby markets, which are well noted for their agricultural output.

Bharat Lake is accessible every day from dawn until dusk. Visitors can rent boats for a little cost, and admission is free. The Sarlahi district’s official website or the local tourism board are both good places to start for further information on the lake, which is controlled by the local government.
