Listing Description

In Morang, Nepal, Dhanpal Fort, often referred to as Dhanpalgadhi, is a must-see location for history aficionados and environment lovers. The fort, which is situated in Belbari Municipality, Kaseni, lies on Biratchowk Road, about 7.5 kilometers south of Belbari and 9 kilometers east of Netachok. This historic and religious monument, which the Nepali government designated, is located in the Terai area of Nepal and is encircled by thick forests, which are home to numerous historical and religious artifacts. King Dhanpal, who controlled the country roughly 1000 years ago, had his palace in the fort. Moreover, the fort bears the king’s name.
The king’s daughter, Fuldevi, is mentioned in one of the fort’s intriguing tales. Her father said that whomever defeated her in combat may have her as their wife because of her beauty, power, and knowledge. India’s Prince Allahrudal accepted the challenge, but after realizing he couldn’t defeat Fuldevi, he used a beard saver to cut off the king’s head. Since that time, no one is permitted to enter the fort with a blade, razor, or scissor in remembrance of King Dhanpal.
Visitors can take in the natural beauty of the area, including the hypnotic melody of birds, the sound of flowing waterways, and the shadow of the forest, in addition to learning about the history of the fort. The Dhanpal Fair, which takes place annually on the tenth of Baisakh, is also held at the fort. The Dharmapal temple is located inside the fort, and both locals and members of the Tharu community attend services there. In the past, the fort’s security has been lax, resulting in the theft of numerous antique devices and instruments. But, in order to find out more information about this historic and holy location, the local administration has now taken efforts to safeguard the land and carry out archaeological studies.
