About 2,100 meters above sea level, in Nepal’s Lamjung district, is the breathtaking tourist destination of Ghalegaun. The settlement is about 12.5 kilometers northeast of Pokhara and 108 kilometers northwest of Kathmandu. The magnificent Annapurna Circuit, which provides a sweeping vista of the mountains and the valley, encircles it.

The natural beauty and welcoming nature of the locals make Ghalegaun a well-known village. Due to its distinctive culture and traditions, the village has emerged as a leading tourist destination in SAARC nations. The SAARC Village Tourism Museum, which was opened by Bidhya Devi Bhandari in 2017, is one of the top sights in Ghalegaun. Visitors from all over the world come to the museum to see the many cultures of South Asia.

A 6-7 hour trip from Kathmandu or a 2-3 hour drive from Pokhara will get you to Ghalegaun. Trekking from Pokhara to Ghalegaun covers a distance of 40–50 kilometers and typically takes 4-5 days. With beautiful views of the mountains and valleys, the walk departs from Nayapul and travels through a number of communities and woods. Anyone with a reasonable level of fitness can complete the well-marked trekking route.

The Gurung ethnic group, which is distinguished by its distinctive culture and customs, makes up the majority of the local population of Ghalegaun. Visitors to Ghalegaun can take part in cultural activities including dances and singing, as well as enjoy local customs and cuisine.

Ghalegaun offers a variety of lodging choices, including guesthouses and homestays. Together with these activities, visitors can go trekking, see birds, and explore the nearby woodlands.

Visitors can call the Ghalegaun Community Homestay Management Committee at +977-9846055982 or +977-9856030888 for more information or assistance.
