Melamchi is a municipality in central Nepal’s Bagmati Zone’s Sindhupalchok District. 3936 people called it home as of the 1991 Nepalese census, and there were 710 homes there.

A drinking water project named the Melamchi water delivery project to the Kathmandu Valley has been started by the government of Nepal.

The Melamchi Valley is a typical Himalayan River-Valley that is constrained and steep. On the High Mountain, the lower valley slopes are very steep, rocky, and “V” shaped, whereas in the Middle, the lower valley slopes are divided by undulating alluvial tars. Middle mountain slopes, which have a softer appearance, are where settlements are located. The top mountain slopes are sharply ridged, rocky, and exceedingly steep. On the other hand, the middle part’s upper hill slopes are frequently rounded and smooth and are used for mountain agriculture and settlement. The highest part of the valley has elevation disparities between the surrounding hills and the valley floor that reach 1,000 meters.
