Listing Description

The old Village Development Committee of Nagarkot is now a part of Nagarkot Municipality and is situated 32 kilometers (km) east of Kathmandu, Nepal, in the Bagmati Zone of the Bhaktapur District. There were 973 dwellings and 4571 people living there as of the 2011 Census. It is regarded as one of the most picturesque locations in the Bhaktapur District and is located at a height of 2,195 meters. It is renowned for its sunrise views of the Himalayas, which include Mount Everest and other peaks in eastern Nepal’s Himalayan range. Moreover, Nagarkot provides a bird’s-eye perspective of the Kathmandu Valley. Due to its breathtaking scenery, the area is a particularly well-liked tourist hiking path. It is located approximately 7000 ft (2000 m) above sea level and 28 km from Kathmandu International Airport.

In the Kathmandu valley, Nagarkot offers one of the most expansive views of the Mountains (8 Himalayan ranges of Nepal out of 13 from here). With vistas of the Kathmandu valley and Shivapuri National Park, the ranges include the Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Jugal, Rolwaling, Mahalangur (Everest), and Numbur ranges.

There are several trekking options in and around Nagarkot for those who enjoy being outside and being active in nature. The most well-known of these are the Nagarkot Eco Trail (nature Walk) and Nagarkot Panoramic Hiking Trail. In Nagarkot, paragliding is another activity that is possible.

The Kathmandu valley’s old fort of Nagarkot was constructed at a key location to keep an eye on neighboring kingdoms’ exterior activities. Eventually, it served as the royal family’s summer resort before becoming well-known as a global hill station.
