Types of Permits

  • TIMS Card (Trekkers’ Information Management System): Mandatory for all trekkers. Fee: NPR 2,000 per person.
  • National Park & Conservation Area Permits: Required for areas like Annapurna, Sagarmatha, Langtang. Fee ranges from NPR 3,000–5,000 depending on the park.
  • Restricted Area Permits: Needed for Upper Mustang, Manaslu, Dolpo. Costs vary: Upper Mustang NPR 50,000 per person for 10 days.
  • Municipal Eco-Taxes: Local municipalities (e.g., Annapurna RM, Khumbu Pasang Lhamu RM) levy NPR 100–500 per trekker.

Where to Apply

Permits are issued by the Nepal Tourism Board offices in Kathmandu (Bhrikutimandap) and Pokhara (Damside). TIMS and ACAP counters operate during office hours (10 AM–5 PM). Restricted permits require a registered trekking agency.
