🚁 1. Search, Rescue Operations & Human Impact Overview

Despite adverse weather and challenging terrain, security forces and specialized teams have aggressively scaled up rescue operations across Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and downstream basins:

• Force Strength: 7,894 Nepal Police, 8,521 Nepali Army, and 4,203 Armed Police Force personnel actively deployed on the ground.
• Casualties & Missing: Recovered bodies total 781 across districts (Rasuwa: 13, Nuwakot: 52, Dhading: 50, Gorkha: 58, Nawalparasi East: 199, Nawalparasi West: 100, Tanahun: 37, Chitwan: 272). Approximately 2,502 individuals remain missing, including 933 from hydropower projects, 592 foreign nationals, and 127 citizens traveling with foreigners.
• Tunnel & Hydropower Extraction: A cumulative 279 individuals have been rescued from hydropower tunnels via helicopter. Specialized Chinese and Korean expert teams are working alongside the Nepali Army, using blasting techniques and specialized equipment at Upper Trishuli 3A, 3B, and Chilime projects.
• Medical Casualties: 267 total injured, of whom 156 have been discharged after treatment. Six surgical medical teams remain active in affected zones.

📦 2. Relief Logistics, Distribution & Shelter Management

• Supply Dispatches: 37 trucks and 35 Boleros loaded with food and non-food relief items have been dispatched to affected regions, supplemented by 8 dedicated helicopter relief flights.
• Shelter Infrastructure: 26 transit shelters and relief distribution centers have been established across Rasuwa and Nuwakot, providing temporary accommodation and supplies to 3,454 displaced individuals.
• Fuel & Utility Reserves: Affected storage hubs maintain active reserves of 23,000 litres of diesel, 22,000 litres of petrol, and 1,500 litres of aviation fuel.

💰 3. Financial Contributions & International Aid

• Government Fund Allocations: Immediate cash support disbursed includes NPR 10 Million each to Rasuwa and Nuwakot, NPR 5 Million to Dhading, and NPR 67.5 Million across 15 local municipal governments.
• Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund: Collections have surged significantly, reaching over NPR 5.24 Billion across commercial bank accounts and over $2.1 million in foreign currency accounts.
• Global Aid Commitments: Commitments include $5 million from ADB (budgetary grant) plus $150k technical assistance, $167 million concessional loan from the World Bank, $500k from the US government, $1 million cash support from Australia, and 1 million Swiss Francs via the UN.
• Bridges & Equipment: India has provided humanitarian aid (totaling 68.5 tons across multiple phases), including a 230-foot single-lane modular steel bridge, with formal requests made to China for 30 Bailey bridges. Airtight body bags (2,000 from India and 2,000 from China) have also been received.

🌐 4. Telecommunication Recovery & Dead Body Management

• Communication Grid: Telecom restoration has advanced rapidly. Out of original BTS towers, Nepal Telecom has 106 and Ncell has 75 towers fully functional. Additionally, 20 satellite phones have been deployed to remote pockets.
• Road Networks: Alternative dirt tracks have re-established road access to Rasuwa, though recent water level swells in the Bhote Koshi and erosion around Krishna Bhir have caused temporary blockages that repair crews are clearing.
• Dead Body Management: Recovered unidentified bodies are securely kept across 21 hospital mortuaries in various districts. Management and burials are strictly handled under the “Unidentified and Abandoned Body Management (First Amendment) Directive, 2083,” ensuring DNA profiles and forensic markers are securely preserved before administrative placement.
