General Information

The B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), popularly known as Ghopa Camp, is a hospital in the Nepalese city of Dharan. The institute was founded on January 18, 1993, and on October 28, 1998, it was elevated to become an autonomous health sciences university. The late B.P. Koirala, a former prime minister of Nepal, is honored by having the institute bear his name. BPKIHS is an excellent example of how India and Nepal work together.

Hospital Capacity: The BPKIHS Teaching Hospital has a capacity of 700 beds and offers healthcare services to the people of eastern Nepal. The hospital is equipped with cutting-edge medical technology and equipment, as well as a staff of highly qualified medical specialists. Many medical services, such as cardiology, oncology, neurology, pediatrics, surgery, and emergency care, are offered by the hospital.

Visitor Demographics: Patients and their families from all over Nepal and its neighboring countries are the key visitors to BPKIHS for medical care. Medical experts and students from Nepal and outside who come to the hospital to study about and get expertise in various medical disciplines are also welcomed.

There are four colleges at BPKIHS: public health, nursing, medical, and dental. The institute offers university certificates, postgraduate degrees, and undergraduate degrees in a variety of medical specialties. The institute is permitted to award certifications, as well as bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Postgraduate programs began in 1999, and the MBBS program began on March 10th, 1994.

One of the biggest projects carried out with the help of India and Nepal is BPKIHS. The institute’s mission is to satisfy the basic, secondary, and tertiary health education needs of Nepal’s eastern area. The self-governing BPKIHS is dedicated to offering the people of Nepal high-quality medical education and healthcare services.
