The municipality of Godawari is located in Nepal’s Province No. 3’s Lalitpur District. In order to create it, the old Village Development Committees of Godawari, Badikhel, Bisankhunarayan, Godamchaur, and Thaiba in the Lalitpur District of the Bagmati Zone were merged on December 2, 2014. In March 2017, the municipality’s boundaries were once more enlarged to incorporate a total of 12 former VDCs. Devichaur, Dukuchhap, Chhampi, Thecho, Chapagaun, Jharuwarasi, and Lele were the six new VDCs. Bajrabarahi serves as the municipality’s administrative hub.

There were 17,762 different families and 78,301 people total residing there as per the 2011 Nepal census. Due to the abundance of wildlife and beautiful surroundings, it is one of the most well-liked trekking locations in Nepal. Another notable feature of Godawari is its botanical garden. Godawari, which is the tallest peak in the Kathmandu Valley, is where “Phulchowki” is situated.
