Listing Description

A magnificent glacial lake called Gosaikunda can be found in Nepal’s Langtang National Park. It is regarded as one of the most sacred lakes in the nation and has spiritual significance for both Buddhists and Hindus. Gosaikunda is the perfect place for hikers, adventure seekers, and nature lovers because of its breathtaking setting surrounded by Himalayan mountains.

At 4,380 meters above sea level, Gosaikunda is a freshwater lake in Nepal’s Langtang National Park. The lake complex has 108 lakes and is 1,030 acres in size. The Hindu gods Shiva and Gauri are said to have made their abode in the lake, which is revered as such. Thousands of pilgrims come to the location, which is a sacred destination, during festivals. In 2007, Ramsar classified it as a site. According to legend, Lord Shiva is credited with creating Gosaikunda.

Hindu mythology claims that Lord Shiva built Gosaikunda when he dipped his trident into the mountain to satiate his thirst. The lake is said to have magical qualities, and bathing in its waters is said to wash one’s sins away. Similar to this, Buddhists think that Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, who brought Buddhism to Tibet, resides in Gosaikunda.

Geographical details:

Gosaikunda is situated in the Langtang National Park at a height of 4,380 meters above sea level. The lake is a picturesque location because it is bordered by untamed land and snow-capped mountains.
