Listing Description

Arjundhara is a well-known pilgrimage destination honoring Lord Arjun and is regarded as the Pashupatinath of eastern Nepal. The location is of great historical significance because it is thought that Arjun, one of the Panch Pandavas, used to come here to graze his cows. One day, when there was no water nearby and he was thirsty, he mounted his bow and arrow and shot the ground. As a result, water emerged from the ground, and he drank from it. Many think that the same water source still supplies the pond with water. In 2065 BC, the Arjundhara temple, which is large enough, was built in a lovely pagoda-style. Arjundhara Dham is very popular among religious tourists especially Hindu. Local people from around 25KM radius visit this holy place yearly to seed SadBij or Satbyu.

The temple is situated in the eastern Nepalese Jhapa district’s Arjundhara VDC. The temple is even more beautiful because of its proximity to a pond. The temple is a short drive or 45 minutes by plane from Kathmandu Valley to Bhadrapur and 30 minutes by vehicle to Arjundhara, making it easily reachable from Kathmandu Valley.

There are two ways to get to the Arjundhara Temple: by air and by road. The closest airport to the Arjundhara temple is Bhadrapur, where you may catch a flight from Kathmandu. You may travel to the temple by automobile from there in around 30 minutes. You can also take a bus from Kathmandu to Jhapa, where you can then take a cab or a local bus to the temple.
