Ghyangphedi is a picturesque village located in the Nuwakot district of Nepal, nestled in the buffer zone of the Langtang National Park. The village is surrounded by lush green hills and is situated on the south side of the Gosaikunda area, making it an ideal destination for trekkers and adventure seekers. The majority of the population in Ghyangphedi are Tamang people, and their rich culture and traditions can be seen throughout the village.

One of the most striking features of Ghyangphedi is its isolation and natural beauty. The village is relatively small and remains untouched by modernity, providing visitors with a glimpse of a simpler way of life. The locals are warm and friendly, and their hospitality is second to none. In the districts of Sindhupalchok and Nuwakot, there is a region called Helambu that is to the north of the Kathmandu Valley and can be reached traversing Ghyangphedi.

Tourists can enjoy a range of outdoor activities in Ghyangphedi, including hiking, trekking, and mountain biking. The village serves as an excellent base for exploring the Langtang National Park, which is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including the endangered red panda. It is also a recommended destination for volunteer tourism as many organizations like Community Leadership Nepal Foundation(CLNF) and Global Orphan Prevention(GOP) are working on the community level to uplift the education and livelihood of people.

To get to Ghyangphedi from Kathmandu, visitors can take a local bus or hire a private car. The journey takes approximately 3 hours and covers a distance of around 80 kilometers. The road to Ghyangphedi is winding and can be challenging, but the breathtaking scenery along the way makes it all worthwhile.

Nepal Tourism Hub would like to recommend this destination as a hidden gem in the Nuwakot district of Nepal, offering visitors a chance to experience the natural beauty and rich culture of the Tamang people. Whether you’re a trekking enthusiast or simply looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, Ghyangphedi is a destination that should not be missed.
